Terms of Service
Kemas kini terakhir 07 Mei, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of My Kanji ("the Service"), operated at mykanji.app. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
2. Description of Service
My Kanji is a Japanese kanji dictionary and spaced-repetition study tool. The Service provides kanji reference data, word breakdowns, reading attribution, and a review system for memorization. The Service is provided for educational and personal reference purposes.
3. User Accounts
To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
- Accept sole responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
- Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are being used fraudulently.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, its servers, or any connected systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service without our prior written consent
- Reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from the Service's content or data without authorization
- Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation
5. Intellectual Property
The Service and its original content (excluding user-generated content and third-party data used under license) are and shall remain the exclusive property of My Kanji and its licensors. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Our trademarks may not be used without prior written consent.
Kanji data incorporated in the Service may be derived from publicly available sources used under their respective licenses (including, where applicable, Creative Commons licenses). Such data remains subject to the terms of its original license.
6. User Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service (such as study notes or feedback). By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and store such content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
7. Paid Plans, Billing, and Refunds
Some features (the "Pro" tier) require a paid subscription or one-time purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing, you authorize us to charge your payment method for the plan you selected at the price displayed at checkout, including any applicable taxes.
Subscription billing
- Monthly plan: billed every month until cancelled.
- Annual plan: billed once per year until cancelled.
- Lifetime plan: a single one-time charge for ongoing access for the lifetime of the Service. "Lifetime" refers to the operational lifetime of My Kanji; if the Service is permanently shut down, lifetime access ends with it.
You can cancel any subscription at any time from your billing settings at /billing. Cancellation stops future renewals; you retain access through the end of the current billing period. We do not pro-rate or refund unused subscription time after the refund window described below.
3-day money-back guarantee
First-time Pro purchases — monthly, annual, or lifetime — are fully refundable within 3 days of the charge, no questions asked. To request a refund within this window, email support@mykanji.app from the email address on your account. Refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically arrive within 5–10 business days.
After 3 days, charges are non-refundable. Recurring renewals (monthly or annual) are non-refundable; the remedy is to cancel before the next renewal date.
Price changes
We may change the prices of paid plans at any time. Existing subscribers will continue at their current price for the remainder of the current billing period and will be notified of any change before it applies to their next renewal. Lifetime purchases are not subject to future price changes.
Failed payments and account suspension
If a payment fails, we will retry collection per Stripe's default schedule. If collection ultimately fails, your Pro access reverts to the free tier until payment is updated. We may, but are not required to, send reminder emails before access is downgraded.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any dictionary data, linguistic information, or educational content provided through the Service. You use such information at your own discretion and risk.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL KANJI DICT, ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM:
- Your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the Service
- Any content obtained from the Service
- Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US, IF ANY, IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless My Kanji, its operators, affiliates, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
11. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnification, and limitations of liability.
12. Modifications to the Service and Terms
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be available at this page. By continuing to use the Service after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and My Kanji regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
