春はるは店長てんちょうに、大おおきな機械きかいを買かってほしいとは言いいませんでした。

Haru wa tenchou ni, ookina kikai o katte hoshii to wa iimasen deshita.

Haru did not ask the manager to buy a large machine.

「袋ふくろを、弁当べんとうを渡わたす場所ばしょの近ちかくに置おいてみませんか」と言いいました。

"Fukuro o, bentou o watasu basho no chikaku ni oite mimasen ka" to iimashita.

She said, "Why don't we try putting the bags near the place where we hand out the bento?"

一いち週間しゅうかんだけ試ためして、前まえと比くらべることにしたのです。

Ichi shuukan dake tameshite, mae to kuraberu koto ni shita no desu.

They decided to try it for just one week and compare it with how things were before.

このように、今いまのやり方かたを少すこしずつよくすることを改善かいぜんと言いいます。

Kono you ni, ima no yarikata o sukoshi zutsu yoku suru koto o kaizen to iimasu.

Gradually improving the current way of doing things like this is called kaizen.

初はじめから完全かんぜんな答こたえを知しっている必要ひつようはありません。

Hajime kara kanzen na kotae o shitte iru hitsuyou wa arimasen.

There is no need to know the perfect answer from the start.

困こまっていることを一ひとつ選えらび、小ちいさく変かえ、結果けっかを見みます。

Komatte iru koto o hitotsu erabi, chiisaku kae, kekka o mimasu.

Choose one difficulty, make a small change, and look at the result.

うまくいかなければ、元もとに戻もどしたり、別べつの方法ほうほうを試ためしたりできます。

Umaku ikanakereba, moto ni modoshi tari, betsu no houhou o tameshi tari dekimasu.

If it does not work, you can put things back or try a different approach.

春はるは、客きゃくが注文ちゅうもんしてから受うけ取とるまでの時間じかんを調しらべました。

Haru wa, kyaku ga chuumon shite kara uketoru made no jikan o shirabemashita.

Haru measured the time from a customer's order to receiving the food.

袋ふくろを近ちかくに置おくと、歩あるく回数かいすうが減へりました。

Fukuro o chikaku ni oku to, aruku kaisuu ga herimashita.

When she put the bags nearby, the number of trips on foot decreased.

しかし、今度こんどは袋ふくろが通とおり道みちにはみ出だしました。

Shikashi, kondo wa fukuro ga toorimichi ni hamidashimashita.

However, this time the bags stuck out into the walkway.

速はやくなっても、人ひとが転ころんだらよい改善かいぜんではありません。

Hayaku natte mo, hito ga koron dara yoi kaizen de wa arimasen.

Even if things are faster, it is not a good improvement if someone trips.

春はるたちは棚たなの高たかさと場所ばしょを変かえて、安全あんぜんに取とれるようにしました。

Harutachi wa tana no takasa to basho o kaete, anzen ni toreru you ni shimashita.

Haru and her colleagues changed the shelf's height and position so they could reach the bags safely.

「ムダ」は、ただ休やすんでいる時間じかんという意味いみではありません。

"Muda" wa, tada yasunde iru jikan to iu imi de wa arimasen.

"Waste" does not simply mean the time spent resting.

必要ひつよう以上いじょうに物ものを運はこぶことや、間違まちがえた仕事しごとをやり直なおすことも考かんがえる対象たいしょうになります。

Hitsuyou ijou ni mono o hakobu koto ya, machigaeta shigoto o yarinaosu koto mo kangaeru taishou ni narimasu.

Moving things more than necessary and redoing work done incorrectly are also things to examine.

一方いっぽう、休憩きゅうけいや安全あんぜんの確認かくにんまで減へらすと、人ひとも仕事しごとも傷きずつきます。

Ippou, kyuukei ya anzen no kakunin made herasu to, hito mo shigoto mo kizutsukimasu.

On the other hand, cutting even breaks and safety checks harms both people and their work.

最後さいごに春はるたちは、袋ふくろを置おく場所ばしょを写真しゃしんにして、新あたらしい店員てんいんにも伝つたえました。

Saigo ni harutachi wa, fukuro o oku basho o shashin ni shite, atarashii ten'in ni mo tsutaemashita.

Finally, Haru and her colleagues took a photo of where the bags belonged and shared it with new staff.

よいやり方かたを共有きょうゆうすると、昨日きのうの発見はっけんが今日きょうだけで終おわらなくなります。

Yoi yarikata o kyouyuu suru to, kinou no hakken ga kyou dake de owaranaku narimasu.

By sharing a good method, yesterday's discovery can remain useful beyond today.
